SPOTLIGHT ON EMERGENCY FUNDS

Sightlines data revealed an overall decrease in the percentage of Americans who have a $3000 emergency fund from 2001 to 2013. The decrease is most pronounced among lower income Americans without a college degree. By contrast, those with a college degree and in the highest income group are consistently the most likely to have access to emergency funds.
