M. ROCH HILLENBRAND

Founder, Stony Brook Investments, LLC; former Partner, Goldman Sachs & Co.

After Graduating from Boston College and NYU Graduate School of Business, Roch began his business career as a corporate banker at Citibank NY. In 1980 he joined Commodities Corporation, (a firm based in Princeton, NJ allocating to hedge fund managers) as Treasurer and continued in various senior executive positions becoming President in 1994. In 1997 he  orchestrated the acquisition of Commodities Corporation by Goldman Sachs & Co.,  New York.   As a Partner of Goldman Sachs, he continued as President of Commodities Corporation (renamed GS Hedge Fund Strategies Group) and also as Head of Global Active Equity within GS Asset Management overseeing portfolio managers based in New York, London, Tokyo and Singapore who collectively managed over $60 Billion. In addition to other senior management positions within GSAM was a member of the Firmwide Risk Committee. Roch retired From GS in 2004 and founded Stony Brook Investments, LLC to invest in hedge funds and private equity . Roch was a Stanford Distinguished Careers Institute Fellow in 2016.

Roch has been actively involved in various philanthropic organizations primarily focused on educational issues. He currently is a Board member of  Power My Learning, New York, NY is an Executive in Residence at New Profit, Boston, MA, a non profit venture capital organization which invests and supports other non profits looking to scale their impact. He was an initial funder and current Board Member of Searching for Solutions Institute, Naples, FL, an organization formed to bring global leaders, social entrepreneurs and the local community together to seek out solutions to major issues. He also is a member of the Boston College Board of Regents

Roch and his wife Carol split their time between Naples, FL and Martha’s Vineyard, MA while doting on four granddaughters.
