YOCHAI SHAVIT

Director of Research
Yochai Shavit joined SCL in 2022 as Director of Research. He is broadly interested in exploring unique psychological strengths of older adults and their relationships with well-being, behavior, and social relationships. Yochai’s current work focuses on age-related changes in motivation and emotion and their influence on time-use preferences across the adult life-span. He is researching how improved emotional well-being and a sense of limited time left in life, both typical of older ages, might affect what people find rewarding about activities and how they decide to spend time on different activities.

Yochai received his Ph.D in Psychology from Stanford University. He holds an MA in Gerontology from the University of Haifa and a BA in Psychology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
