Advisor: Helena Miton

Huan is a cultural psychologist whose research examines the interplay between culture and interpersonal trust. He received his Ph.D. in Psychology from Stanford University, where he studied how cultural expectations shaped interpersonal trust and its underlying motivational processes through behavioral and neuroimaging methods. As a New Map of Life fellow, his work extends into the intergenerational domain, examining how cultural beliefs, values and expectations are transmitted across generations and how these transmissions contribute to trust and cooperative outcomes. He examines these questions using large-scale surveys and experimental methods. Originally from Xi’an, China, Huan earned his B.S. in Cognitive Neuroscience from Simon Fraser University in Canada.
