Basil Halperin is a postdoc at the Stanford Digital Economy Lab, part of the center for Human-centered Artificial Intelligence (Stanford HAI). His research focuses on topics in monetary economics, macroeconomic growth, and Artificial Intelligence. He received his PhD in economics from MIT in 2024. Prior to his academic career, Basil worked as a data scientist at Uber and as a quantitative researcher at AQR Capital Management. As a New Map of Life fellow, Basil is working with Prof. Erik Brynjolfsson on projects to quantify and better understand the economic challenges and opportunities of AI disruption to the workforce and beyond.
