Discipline: Population Health
Project: [PROJECT TITLE]
Advisor: Pascal Geldsetzer

Rushil Zutshi

Rushil is a health economist with a PhD from the RAND School of Public Policy. His dissertation used a randomized controlled trial with standardized patients to identify caste- and religion-based discrimination in healthcare delivery among private providers in Bihar, India. Prior to his fellowship, he was a Research Scientist at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), where he studied the impact of clinician training on dementia care patterns and assessed the comparative effectiveness of Medicare Advantage (Part C) versus Traditional Medicare for retirees with Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD). His work spans health economics, aging, health systems, and global health and equity, drawing on methods including RCTs, agent-based and simulation models, and quasi-experimental approaches using claims data. As a New Map of Life Fellow at Stanford’s Center on Longevity, Rushil’s current research evaluates the effect of Herpes Zoster (HZ) vaccination on dementia incidence using quasi-experimental techniques.
