Director, External Partnerships

Michelle Wachs, J.D., joined SCL in September of 2011 as Director of External Partnerships. Michelle is a veteran fundraising professional with more than ten years of experience in development, specializing in major and planned gifts. Through her independent consultancy practice, Giving Solutions, she helps non-profit clients initiate or augment fundraising capabilities by leveraging existing support to strengthen and solidify a broader base of support. Michelle has worked on multiple projects for Stanford University, including at the Stanford Hospital and Medical Center, the Department of Philosophy, the Stanford University School of Education, and Stanford Law School. She was previously Planned Giving Manager at the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health, the fundraising arm supporting Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital. She was hired by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation to work on grant development and implementation within the Betty Irene Moore Nursing Initiative. Michelle earned her BA at Brown University and her juris doctorate degree from Harvard Law School. Michelle worked as an attorney in civil litigation for seven years with the Palo Alto offices of the multinational firm Baker & McKenzie.
