Phyllis Stewart Pires

Phyllis Stewart Pires is a leader in helping organizations navigate the rapidly changing dynamics of how people live and work. As AVP of Employee Support Programs & Services in Stanford’s human resource’s function, Phyllis provides strategic leadership for several people-centric, well-being focused functions. Under her leadership are comprehensive wellness programs, dependent care and worklife programs, flexible work implementation, mental health services, and employee listening and experience. Before coming to Stanford, Phyllis held a variety of HR, communications, change leadership and diversity roles in the technology sector. She founded the award-winning Family Services programs at Cisco. While serving as the Global Head of Diversity for SAP, she made significant progress in diversity, engagement, and values-driven culture alignment initiatives. Phyllis served as Board President for College and University WorkLife & Family Association, served on the Conference Board WorkLife Leadership Council, and the Clayman Institute for Gender Research, Working Group on the Future of Work. Phyllis has her master’s in human development from UCLA.
