Doug Lederman is a higher education journalist and analyst, writing and speaking widely about the industry and advising nonprofit organizations and companies. He served as editor and co-founder of Inside Higher Ed from 2004 to 2024, where he helped lead the news organization’s editorial operations and contributed to its business strategy. Before co-founding Inside Higher Ed, he served in a variety of roles at The Chronicle of Higher Education from 1986 to 2003, including as managing editor. He began his career as a news clerk at The New York Times. He grew up in Shaker Heights, Ohio, and graduated in 1984 from Princeton University.
