Burck is the founder and Chairman of StraighterLine, which offers low-cost, credit-bearing college courses to lower the cost and risk of higher education for students. Founded in 2009, it was one of the first “alternative credit providers.” Prior to StraighterLine, he started SMARTHINKING, bought by Pearson, in 1999 which provided online tutoring services to colleges. He has written three book chapters and multiple white papers on education policy, serves on multiple for-profit and non-profit boards and was an education focused consultant and journalist. He is a frequent speaker on education, innovation, disruption and entrepreneurship.
