Stanford University

Director of Research

Yochai Shavit is the director of research at the Stanford Center on Longevity. Shavit is broadly interested in exploring unique psychological strengths of older adults and their relationships with well-being, behavior, and social relationships. Yochai’s current work focuses on age-related changes in motivation and emotion and their influence on time-use preferences across the adult life-span. He is researching how improved emotional well-being and a sense of limited time left in life, both typical of older ages, might affect what people find rewarding about activities and how they decide to spend time on different activities.
