EVALUATING RESEARCH
Within Lifestyle Medicine, there are increasing evidence-based recommendations across each of our five pillars: nutrition, sleep, fitness, stress management, and social relationships. The quantity of evidence can make it difficult for patients and healthcare providers to determine relevance and stay up to date.
We work with experts within each pillar to evaluate research. Here, we share rigorous research from institutions, societies, and healthcare providers across our five pillars. We also share research publications that combine all five pillars or that highlight Lifestyle Medicine awareness/education.
In our short list of research selections, we focused on including evidence for diverse populations and highlighting publications across a broad range of journals. Although our selections represent a small subset of Lifestyle Medicine publications, we believe this research has the potential to shape the field of lifestyle medicine, improve quality of life, and/or prevent chronic disease.
In addition, we are working with contributors to generate “research spotlights.” In these research spotlights, we highlight meaningful research in an engaging manner. We hope our research spotlights can further discussion and highlight potential Lifestyle Medicine applications for patients and healthcare providers.
