Emily Watts

Dr. Emily Watts is a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in adult psychiatry and women’s mental health. She operates a private practice and sees patients in New York and Washington DC. 

Emily completed fellowships in Reproductive Psychiatry and Public Psychiatry at NYU (Bellevue Hospital). During fellowship, she worked with a vulnerable population of women during some of the most important and challenging times of their lives. Emily completed her residency training in general adult psychiatry at NYU hospital. She completed her Medical Degree from Emory University, where she also graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Neuroscience. Emily has co-authored several peer-reviewed articles on the neurobiological basis of mood/anxiety disorders and substance abuse as well as intergenerational transmission of stress and trauma.

Emily serves as a member of the mid-Atlantic regional board for UNICEF USA and as a founding member of UNICEF NextGen’s Global Principles. She is also on the Board of Trustees for the National Child Research Center School in Washington DC.

Emily and her husband, Alfred Johnson, are Co-Presidents of the Johnson Family Foundation, which makes grants to nonprofits related to children, mental health, and criminal justice reform. As a mother, neuroscientist and physician, Emily cares deeply about advancing causes related to the health, wellbeing, and longevity of children and adults.
