Connie Carpenter Phinney

Board Member, Davis Phinney Foundation for Parkinson’s

PhinneyConnie Carpenter Phinney is the 1984 Olympic Champion in road cycling, and a winter Olympian in Speed Skating.  She serves as a board member of the Davis Phinney Foundation for Parkinson’s, based in Boulder.  A strong advocate in the caregiving community, Connie is also a frequent motivational speaker, engaging audiences in strategies for changing their lives, using the bicycle as metaphor.  She was involved in the writing of both “Training for Cycling” and “Happiness of Pursuit”. Connie has served on various committees within the USOC and chaired the motivational committee for all Olympic sports prior to the 2004 Games. She holds an MS from the University of Colorado in Exercise Science, and a BA from UC Berkeley –where she rowed on the collegiate nationals winning crew team in 1981. Connie and her husband Davis Phinney, also a 1984 Olympic medalist, have two children.
