Director of Community Care Corps, Caregiver Action Network
Stacy is currently Director of Community Care Corpsfor Caregiver Action Network (CAN). Community Care Corps is a new national programto foster innovative modelsin which volunteers provide non-medical services tofamily caregivers, older adults, and/or persons with disabilities to help people live independently in the community.
Prior to joining CAN, she led the Office for Older Americans at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB),from 2012 –2019, where she helped launch the office and led the development and implementation of the office’s initiatives involving, among others, elder financial exploitation prevention and elder justice, consumer protections for financial products and services, financial caregiving, aging-in-place, Social Security, housing, retirement security, and age friendly banking.Stacy oversaw creation of educational tools to help older consumers make sound financial decisions to help them attain or maintain later life financial security, including the award-winning toolthathelpspeople decide when to collect Social Security retirement benefits.
Prior to the CFPB, Stacy was a Senior Litigation Attorney and Manager at theAARPFoundation Litigation(AFL)groupwhere she specialized in protectingolder adults’ rights inhealthcare and consumer protection casesnationwide. She started her legal career representing older homeownersin foreclosure defense casesat Legal Counsel for the Elderly and University Legal Services in Washington DC.
