Stanford Center on Longevity Announces Finalists for 7th Annual Design Challenge

The Stanford Center on Longevity is pleased to announce eight Finalist teams for the 2020 Longevity Design Challenge. These Finalists were selected from 160 submissions received from 35 different countries. Teams will be awarded $1000 to develop their designs further and will participate in a virtual Finals event, scheduled for April 7th.  They will compete for a $10,000 first prize.

A Director’s Introduction to the 2020 Stanford Longevity Design Challenge

Welcome to the 2020 Stanford Center on Longevity Design Challenge! I’ve had the privilege of directing the Challenge since we first launched the effort in September of 2013. As we enter our seventh year, I’d like to take a few minutes to explain the thinking behind this year’s challenge topic and provide a little (hopefully) helpful advice on how to approach creating an entry.

Stanford Center on Longevity Names Co-Champions of the 2019 Longevity Design Challenge

In an unprecedented turn of events, the Stanford Center on Longevity today named teams from the University of California, Berkeley and Stanford co-champions of the 2018 -2019 Longevity Design Challenge competition. These teams beat out 97 entries from 24 countries during the course of the competition. Both teams will receive a $10,000 first prize for their accomplishment.

By almost any measure, longer lives and aging populations are one of the defining trends of the 21stCentury. The Stanford Center on Longevity (SCL) Design Challenge reaches out to university students around the world to create awareness of aging in a younger generation, increasing their preparedness to design for this population and offering a low-risk, practical way to gain exposure to longevity-related opportunities.
