Advances in understanding neurotrophic factors and their signaling pathways have provided insights into normal growth, survival and differentiation of neurons. Stimulated by neuropathological and genetic discoveries, studies in cell and animal models of neurodegenerative disorders have begun to clarify pathogenetic mechanisms of disease. Mobley's lab examines the intersection of these research themes, and identifies potential mechanisms for linking failed neurotrophin signaling to neurodegeneration.
